Pro Coro Canada
Pro Coro Canada, recipient of a 2026 JUNO Award for Benedict Sheehan’s Ukrainian War Requiem, is a professional choir comprised of Alberta’s finest choral singers and scholars. The ensemble has been curated by Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Michael Zaugg since his appointment in 2012.
Founded in 1981 by Canadian conductor Michel Marc Gervais, Pro Coro Canada’s sound has been shaped by some of the world’s leading choral conductors, including Gervais, Anders Eby (Sweden), Søren Hansen (Denmark), Agnes Grossmann (Austria), and Richard Sparks (USA).
The choir takes particular pride in its composer-in-residence program with internationally renowned composer Alberto Grau, its role as faculty in the Choral Art program at the Banff Centre, and its critically acclaimed tours across four provinces. Pro Coro Canada is deeply committed to building community through partnerships at the local, provincial, and national levels, as well as mentoring the next generation of choral artists through its Emerging Artist Program, which supports the development of singers, composers, and conductors alike.

Lauréat d’un prix JUNO 2026 pour Ukrainian War Requiem de Benedict Sheehan, Pro Coro Canada est un chœur professionnel composé des meilleurs chanteurs et spécialistes du chant choral de l’Alberta. L’ensemble est dirigé et façonné par son directeur artistique et chef principal, Michael Zaugg.
Fondé en 1981 par le chef canadien Michel Marc Gervais, Pro Coro Canada a vu son identité sonore se développer sous l’influence de certains des plus grands chefs de chœur au monde, dont Gervais, Anders Eby (Suède), Søren Hansen (Danemark), Agnes Grossmann (Autriche) et Richard Sparks (États-Unis).
Le chœur est particulièrement fier de son programme de compositeur en résidence avec le compositeur de renommée internationale Alberto Grau, de son rôle en tant que corps professoral au programme d’art choral du Banff Centre, ainsi que de ses tournées acclamées par la critique à travers quatre provinces. Pro Coro Canada s’engage fortement à bâtir des liens communautaires grâce à des partenariats aux niveaux local, provincial et national, tout en soutenant la relève artistique par l’entremise de son programme Emerging Artist, qui contribue au développement des chanteurs, compositeurs et chefs de chœur.
