“It is an exploration of the life Brahms might have led if the impresario who heard 9-year-old Brahms play in Hamburg had succeeded in bringing him to the USA as a travelling child virtuoso. This nearly happened. His parents were all in, but his devoted piano teacher lobbied against the idea, and eventually reason prevailed. My show will be a telling, with musical illustrations, of both the life of the actual Johannes Brahms and that of his could-have-been American counterpart, Johnny Brahma, the spectacular touring soloist.”

« Il s’agit d’une exploration de la vie que Brahms aurait pu mener si l’impresario qui l’entendit jouer à Hambourg à l’âge de neuf ans avait réussi à l’emmener aux États-Unis comme enfant prodige en tournée. Cela a failli se produire. Ses parents étaient tout à fait d’accord, mais son dévoué professeur de piano s’opposa à l’idée et, finalement, la raison l’emporta. Mon spectacle sera un récit, accompagné d’illustrations musicales, à la fois de la vie du véritable Johannes Brahms et de celle de son alter ego américain hypothétique, Johnny Brahma, le spectaculaire soliste en tournée. »
