From the roaring\, carefree jazz age\, into the instability of the depression and the increasing awareness of the surrounding rise of fascism in Italy (to the east)\, then Spain (to the west) then Germany. Poulenc lived in Paris through it all\, and his music (and the music of other Parisian greats) reflects a great society living next to an increasingly menacing and aggressive power\, while still maintaining its own character and\, as Poulenc did\, ultimately surviving and prevailing.” \n– Tom Allen \n  \nPrésentation artistique de l’événement  \n« L’idée est de retracer la vie musicale de Paris de 1928 à 1945 à travers le regard du grand Poulenc\, qui s’intéressait tour à tour et avec le même enthousiasme à la vie nocturne de la ville\, à sa vie religieuse et à l’expression artistique la plus élevée. We have a fantastic roster of performers all waiting for you to decide what they will play! \nE-mail us with what you’d like to hear played at the Closing Celebration of the Festival and tell us why you’ve picked it. We’re looking for the stories behind why you love this piece of music. \nIf your music and story is selected for this concert\, you will win ten tickets to invite friends and family. There will also be one Grand Prize Winner who will win two passes to the 2027 Music and Beyond festival. \nRules to enter: \nPlease suggest a piece of music for us to include and why you would like to hear it. It can be for one player or many players\, including for orchestra or for choir. If your piece is chosen\, we will try to find the instrument(s) or voice type you have requested. \nPlease send your suggestion to info@musicandbeyond.ca no later than May 31\, 2026. \nParticipez à la programmation !\nLe 17 juillet 2026\, nous vous invitons à participer à notre très spécial concert de clôture.
