One highlight will be a performance of a Beethoven work written for a Canadian  It is a canon called Freu Dich Des Lebens by Ludwig van Beethoven\, and dedicated to Theodore Frederic Molt. The manuscript is now held by Library and Archives Canada. It was first performed in 1826. \n  \nMusique composée\, interprétée ou publiée en 1826\, année de fondation de Bytown\, mettant en vedette des compositeurs célèbres (dont Beethoven\, Schubert et Mendelssohn)\, ainsi que des œuvres provenant d’Europe\, d’Amérique du Nord et du Canada naissant. The ensemble is particularly recognized for its interpretations of Romantic repertoire performed on period instruments. \nHighly active in Montréal\, the ensemble founded Les ruelles musicales in 2020\, a summer concert series that brings chamber music into the heart of Montréal’s neighbourhoods. The project has led to several interdisciplinary collaborations\, notably with dancer Axelle Munezero and dancer Sébastien Provencher. \nCommitted to education\, the Cobalt Quartet has been teaching chamber music at the CAMMAC Music Centre since 2022. Previously\, the ensemble served as collaborating quartet at the Domaine Forget International Academy for four years and as ensemble-in-residence at the Université de Montréal. \nGuillaume Villeneuve’s 1866 Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin and 1955 Arthur Copley (W.E Hill & Sons) bow\, Diane Bayard’s 1751 Antonio Gragnani violin and c.1925 Victor Fétique bow\, as well as François Leclerc’s c.1790-1810 Pietro Antonio Cateni cello and Gustav Prager bow are generously loaned by Canimex. \n  \nQuatuor Cobalt \nFondé à Montréal en 2017\, le Quatuor Cobalt occupe aujourd’hui une place singulière sur la scène canadienne par la cohérence de sa vision artistique et l’ampleur de ses projets. L’ensemble se démarque notamment par son interprétation du répertoire romantique sur instruments d’époque. \nTrès actif à Montréal\, l’ensemble a créé Les ruelles musicales en 2020\, une série estivale qui ancre la musique de chambre au cœur de la vie montréalaise. Ce projet a donné lieu à plusieurs collaborations interdisciplinaires\, notamment avec la danseuse Axelle Munezero et le danseur Sébastien Provencher. \nEngagé dans la transmission\, le Quatuor Cobalt enseigne la musique de chambre au Centre musical CAMMAC depuis 2022. Together\, they explore the world of tango with unmatched passion and virtuosity. Their repertoire consists of Argentine tango classics as well as works specially composed for their unique duo. This nearly happened. His parents were all in\, but his devoted piano teacher lobbied against the idea\, and eventually reason prevailed. He has shared the stage with distinguished musicians including James Ehnes\, Augustin Hadelich\, Louis Lortie\, Gérard Caussé\, and James Campbell\, as well as members of the Ébène\, New Zealand\, and Penderecki Quartets. \n« D’une riche imagination et d’un esprit vif » (Diapason)\, le violoncelliste canadien Cameron Crozman se produit en tant que \nsoliste et chambriste au Canada\, aux États-Unis\, en Asie et en Europe. Hailing from St. Petersburg\, Kharitonov clinched top honors at prestigious competitions including the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition and the Rachmaninoff Competition\, launching a concert career that has traversed continents. On North American soil\, Kharitonov’s artistry has left an indelible mark\, with appearances at venues such as Carnegie Hall and the National Gallery of Art. As a composer\, Kharitonov’s talent shines brightly\, earning him accolades including the First Prize at the All-National Composer’s Competition in Russia. A Doctor of Musical Arts graduate from the University of North Texas\, he continues to push artistic boundaries with recordings showcasing a diverse repertoire\, from Leo Ornstein to Tchaikovsky\, demonstrating his versatility and mastery across genres. \n  \nArsentiy Kharitonov\, pianiste et compositeur russe\, a rapidement acquis une grande reconnaissance musicale. From the roaring\, carefree jazz age\, into the instability of the depression and the increasing awareness of the surrounding rise of fascism in Italy (to the east)\, then Spain (to the west) then Germany. Poulenc lived in Paris through it all\, and his music (and the music of other Parisian greats) reflects a great society living next to an increasingly menacing and aggressive power\, while still maintaining its own character and\, as Poulenc did\, ultimately surviving and prevailing.” \n– Tom Allen \n  \nPrésentation artistique de l’événement  \n« L’idée est de retracer la vie musicale de Paris de 1928 à 1945 à travers le regard du grand Poulenc\, qui s’intéressait tour à tour et avec le même enthousiasme à la vie nocturne de la ville\, à sa vie religieuse et à l’expression artistique la plus élevée.
