Music and Beyond is a classical music and multi-disciplinary arts festival in Ottawa, founded in 2010. Widely considered one of Canada’s major classical music festivals and one of North America’s most innovative arts festivals, Music and Beyond presents classical music in all forms and pursues links with music and other art forms.
The 2013 festival will take place from July 4th to 15th, bringing to the Ottawa area such world-class musicians and performers as Germany’s Auryn Quartet; soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian; Juno-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Sam Roberts; and many others. Don’t miss such wonderful concerts as the opening gala, Music and Circus; Piano Gala, with 10 pianos and over 65 performers; and the only North American appearance this summer of audience favourite PDQ Bach. As well, this year’s festival will include a special emphasis on activities for children and youth that highlight the importance of music education early in life. A special Kids’ Music and Arts Day will be held on July 7th featuring over 150 concerts and many exciting activities to encourage young people to discover classical music. A Music and Nature event will also be held on July 10th at the Canadian Museum of Nature, featuring over 120 concerts and encouraging children and their families to explore the museum while learning about music.
